Survey on Local Place Plans

16 October 2026

Local Place Plans - Your Views Wanted

Work on the review of Local Place Plans (LPPs) required by the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 is now underway.

The aim is to look at the effectiveness of LPPs and the level of influence they are having, as a relatively new part of the planning system.

The review will also consider the resources available to support communities to prepare them. A report on the findings will be presented to Parliament early next year.

As well as gathering statistical evidence on the numbers of LPPs that have been prepared so far, Scottish Government Planning Directorate would welcome your insights and perceptions.

Community Councils can help by completing this survey: https://bit.ly/4xXfZSx

The survey is anonymous and should take around 15-20 minutes to complete. Your responses will help measure and understand the effectiveness of Local Place Plans across Scotland.

The survey will be open until the end of October.
