New principles for the use of participation requests

Strengthening Participation in Scotland - New Principles for the use of Participation Requests - Online Workshop

You are invited to an online Participation Request event to hear from the Scottish Government about the Review of Participation Requests – Part 3 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 Findings Report published in March 2025.

The event will provide an overview of key findings, recommendations and actions taken to date.  It will also provide an update on the Democracy Matters process led jointly by the Scottish Government and COSLA, designing new arrangements for empowered community decision-making.

The newly developed Principles for Participation Requests will be discussed before they are published and Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) will showcase the updated Participation Request website which includes refreshed case studies and signposting to guides, tools and templates.

At the event you will:

  • Hear about the Participation Requests Review findings and lessons learned.
  • Receive an update on the Democracy Matters process and next steps.
  • Learn more about the newly developed Principles for Participation Requests and provide feedback.
  • View the updated Participation Requests website
