The Big Lunch brings neighbours and communities together to share friendship, food and fun.  An idea from the Eden Project, made possible by the National Lottery, it started back in 2009, and takes place each year in June.

Part of the Month of Community throughout the whole of June, Big Lunch vents can be big or small, inside or outside, casual or filled with all sorts of games, activities and excitement. The main thing is that people come together for food, friendship and fun.

Community councils and other organisations in Scotland can win one of 100 £25 vouchers to spend on food and drink for their party by signing up to hold a Big Lunch on the Eden Project Communities website and adding their event to the Big Lunch Map.

This year, the Eden Project Communities was to make the Big Lunch the greenest one yet and there are lots of tips on their website as to how you can make your own event more sustainable.
