Applications are now open for Scotland’s Beach Awards, which celebrate the efforts of local people to improve and maintain their stretch of coastline.
Keep Scotland Beautiful has been running Scotland’s Beach Awards for the last 30 years, with 53 beaches receiving awards in 2022. Community groups can submit an application for their own local beach to be recognised.
Scotland's Beach Awards are an independent accreditation which show the public that a beach and its environs are managed excellently. The awards recognise and celebrate the efforts of local authorities, agencies and communities striving to offer an excellent beach experience to locals and visitors, and receiving an award can bring economic benefits, including elevating the profile of your beach, encouraging a boost to tourism and the opening up local revenue opportunities.
The award recognises excellence across three areas of criteria, including Access, Facilities & Safety, Local Environmental Quality, and Communities & Heritage. Scotland's Beach Award is presented annually, typically in late May, to coincide with summer holidays of schools in Scotland.
Applications are now open and close on 31 March 2023. For more information on applying for Scotland's Beach Awards visit the Keep Scotland Beautiful website.
