The Scottish Government has launched a review of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 to explore if the legislation is doing what it set out to do and if any changes are required.
The Community Empowerment Act gave new rights to community bodies and new duties to public sector authorities when it was passed and was designed to help empower community bodies through the ownership or control of land and buildings, and by strengthening their voices in decisions about public services.
The review will have a particular focus on community ownership and strengthening decision-making to improve outcomes for the local community and is due to finish in the second half of 2023.
If you want to contribute to the review or if you have any thoughts on the effectiveness of the Community Empowerment Act, you can email Community.Empowerment@gov.scot Please ensure you include which part of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) 2015 you are interested in, your question or comment and your contact details.
