Beautiful Scotland and It’s Your Neighbourhood are part of the Britain in Bloom campaign run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful. Groups can get access to free support, resources, networking and celebration opportunities throughout the year.
Registration is open until 30 April for both initiatives.
Beautiful Scotland is a long-established community environmental improvement programme which supports groups across Scotland as they seek to improve and enhance their village or town. One group may lead the Beautiful Scotland entry, while working in partnership with a wide range of other groups, organisations and the local authority.
The It’s Your Neighbourhood scheme recognises smaller-scale environmental projects and is aimed at volunteer-led community groups which are cleaning and beautifying their neighbourhoods. This can be through community allotments, after school wildlife clubs, school eco-groups, Friends of Park groups, or adopting pieces of derelict land. Keep Scotland Beautiful supports and encourages participating groups from across Scotland, and rewards achievements through a series of certificates to acknowledge the good work being done on behalf of their communities.
Both of these initiatives are based on three pillars; community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement. You can find out more about these themes on the Keep Scotland Beautiful website.
