New community strategy for Forestry and Land Scotland

Forestry and Land Scotland have launched a consultation on their new Draft Communities Strategy and are looking for feedback from community councils and others who live, work and enjoy themselves on Scotland’s forests and land.

The Communities Strategy sets out the principles and strategic priorities for Forestry and Land Scotland’s work with communities and, once finalised, will help the organisation to build an action plan for the future.

The overarching purpose of Forestry and Land Scotland’s Community Strategy is:

To fully realise the contribution of Scotland’s National Forests and Land to building vibrant, sustainable, wealthier and resilient communities, recognising the rights and responsibilities of all to work together to sustainably manage our forests and land.

To achieve this, Forestry and Land Scotland have set out key principles for their work with communities to inform, engage and to support sustainable and thriving rural communities.

You can read the full Draft Consultation Document on the Forestry and Land Scotland website. The closing date for responses is 23 August 2022.
