Doors Open Day 2022 looking for participants

Is there an interesting or unusual building in your local area which would be a welcome addition to Doors Open Day 2022? The Scottish Civic Trust is looking for organisations and buildings to take part in local events throughout September 2022.

Doors Open Days first took place in Glasgow and Ayr in 1990 as part of the European City of Culture celebrations.

The success of the event encouraged other areas to participate the following year and has now grown to cover almost every area of Scotland.  Around 1,000 buildings took part in the 2021 hybrid event, with some posting content videos and others hosting live visits.

Each region has its own coordinator, who is responsible for curating the buildings which take part in Doors Open Day 2022, and you can find out when your own region is holding its event on the event website.

The 2022 event will also be a hybrid event, which means that local organisations and community groups can create a video about their building or open up their doors to local visitors. Doors Open Day buildings don’t have to have a historical or cultural significance and taking part in the event can help to attract visitors to your town or village.
