Biodiversity consultation launched by Scottish Government

The Scottish Government has launched a consultation on Scotland's Biodiversity Strategy, which is due to be published later in 2022.

The Strategy will set out a long-term vision of what our natural environment needs to look like in 2045 in order to reverse the current biodiversity decline and protect our environment for the future.  The consultation document contains a series of proposed outcomes setting out what needs to be done and the conditions that must be in place in order to achieve success.

Public consultation forms part of a wider engagement process with stakeholders who have an interest in Scotland’s biodiversity, including land managers, environmental organisations, local authorities and other partners.

The Scottish Government held a series of workshops to scope out the detail of the strategy, develop ideas and test concepts and is now gathering the views of the public and interested organisations to test and further develop these ideas.

The consultation can be completed online and will close on 12 September 2022.
