Supported by Eden Project Communities, the Big Lunch is the UK's annual celebration for neighbours and communities. Every year in June, since the idea began in 2009, people across the country take the opportunity to get together with neighbours in a nationwide act of community and friendship.
A Big Lunch can be anything from a small gathering in a garden, park or driveway, to a larger party with trestle tables down the middle of your street.
There are more reasons than ever to get together this year as The Big Jubilee Lunch will be an official part of HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations on the extended bank holiday weekend (2-5 June), and also marks the start of Eden Project Communities’ Month of Community in June.
The Eden Project Communities website has lots of information for community councils who are thinking about holding their own Big Lunch, including practical considerations and plenty of inspirational suggestions to ensure that the day is a success.
If you are already planning your own Big Lunch, then you can let Eden Project Communities know about your event, and they will add it to their UK-wide map of Big Lunch celebrations.
