Carbon Literacy Project Community Councils Toolkit webinar

The Improvement Service and the Carbon Literacy Project are hosting a free webinar for community councillors on Friday 30th June from 6pm to 7pm.

In March, The Carbon Literacy Project released the Parish, Town and Community Councils Toolkit course. This Toolkit course is a suite of locally-adaptable resources that enable any parish, town or community council in the UK to deliver internal Carbon Literacy training.

The Carbon Literacy Project will provide guidance on how to use the Toolkit course for the delivery of Carbon Literacy training in your community council. This will include an introduction to the Toolkit course, its contents and how to use it, followed by a Q&A to discuss how you might approach Carbon Literacy training at your community council. Following the webinar, you can request access to the Toolkit course and being to plan for delivery of Carbon Literacy training in your council.

The Toolkit Course provides community councillors with the opportunity to integrate climate change into their decision making, lead by example, and cascade environmentally sustainable and socially responsible values to galvanise action in their communities. The course helps develop an awareness of which actions will have the greatest impact in the drive to achieve net zero emissions and will empower community councillors to support local people to make informed choices and act in their local community’s best interests.

The initial development of this Toolkit Course was funded by the UK Government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The materials are available for certified Carbon Literacy training within Parish, Town and Community Councils. The Toolkit Course has been co-written, reviewed and piloted by a panel of councils, ensuring the latest and best sectoral materials are used. It consists of slides, activity resources, a comprehensive trainer manual and a ‘getting started’ pack.
