OVER the past three years the FCC Scottish Action Fund has provided more than 100 projects with funding of over £4.9m thanks to the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund (SLCF) tax credit scheme.
Linked to the Scottish Landfill Tax the fund encourages landfill site operators to contribute tax credits to benefit community and environmental projects.
Projects have been funded across Scotland, from Reay near Thurso down to Penpont near Dumfries and include a scheme that creates new products from old plastic, building a Roman Fort themed play park, restoring peatland for butterflies and refurbishing a historic Mausoleum for future generations.
Community councils, charities, community organisations and voluntary groups can apply for grants of between £2,000 and £40,000 for projects eligible under the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund (SLCF) with a maximum total project cost of £250,000.
Funding is provided for projects such as land reclamation for social use, community based recycling, maintaining and improving amenities and parks, biological diversity and the maintenance and repair of historic buildings.
