Pocket Places helps design and implement improvements to local streets

Community groups who want to find simple, quick, temporary solutions to improve the look and feel of their streets and make them safer can apply now to the Sustrans Pocket Places programme.

Pocket Places is funded by Transport Scotland and delivered by Sustrans Scotland who expect to fund four Pocket Places projects in 2020. They offer the help of a design team to help design and implement improvements to local streets and there is up to £20,000 available for construction per project.

Sustrans Scotland provides advice, support and funding to make it easier for people to walk and cycle for everyday journeys. The Pocket Places programme states that every street has the potential to be a place with greenery, clean air, and priority given to people, enabling them to use the space as a community and travel actively.

Expressions of interest are open all year round and applications are processed three times a year in March, July and November. The latest round seeking expressions of interest will close on Tuesday 31st March 2020.  Projects selected in this round will be expected to begin in June.

All applicants must be willing and able to take ownership of the project and take on any maintenance required.

Completed expressions of interest forms should be emailed to pocketplaces@sustrans.org.uk.

If you have any questions on Pocket Places please e-mail: Christina.Eley@sustrans.org.uk
