The Plunge in! Coasts and Waters Community Fund aims to help community groups to celebrate the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020

Grants of £2,000 to £10,000 to fund community-led projects that help the local environment and wildlife and improve Scotland’s coasts and waters are available now from Scottish Natural Heritage’s new Fund.

The ‘Plunge in! Coasts and Waters Community Fund aims to help community groups to celebrate the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020 (#YCW2020) in their own way.

Scottish Natural Heritage are Scotland’s nature agency and they are encouraging community organisations to come up with new projects that will help their communities connect with their coasts, seas and freshwaters.  Projects may include restoring habitats, carrying out local surveys or promoting and celebrating the local environment or wildlife.

Also available are smaller Nature Reserve Travel grants of up to £500 to enable school or youth groups to connect with their coasts and waters by visiting one of Scotland’s national or local nature reserves.

Applications are invited from registered charities, trusts and community groups and are open until 28 February 2020. All projects must take place between April and December 2020.

If you care for your local coasts and waters and wish to Plunge In please contact PlungeIn@nature.scot or visit the Scottish Natural Heritage website for more information and an application form.
