Love Your Network: Funding Available Now

News story posted: 03/09/2019

Ayrshire coastal path volunteersCOMMUNITY groups including community councils can apply for grants of between £100 and £750 for practical projects which benefit people or wildlife across National Cycle Network routes in Scotland.

Grants can be used to cover a range of costs including litter-picking equipment, bike trailers for transporting tools and equipment, hand tools, power tools, native plants and fruit trees.

The Love Your Network grants are funded by Transport Scotland and delivered by Sustrans Scotland and they aim to help communities carry out physical improvements to cycle routes in their area which make journeys on the National Cycle Network more attractive and enjoyable.

Laura White, Sustrans Scotland Network Engagement Coordinator (Volunteering) said: “Communities have the best knowledge of their local environment, and we hope to encourage and empower these groups in making improvements to their local paths through the Love Your Network Grant Fund.

“People are much more likely to walk and cycle on attractive, interesting and biodiverse routes. We hope the new fund can help support local communities in making the most of the amazing green spaces on their doorsteps, and encourage the National Cycle Network in Scotland to flourish.”

Community groups throughout Scotland who would like to benefit from Love Your Network grant funding of up to £750 are encouraged to visit the grant fund page on Sustrans website where more details and guidelines for applications are also available.

The application deadline for the current round of funding is 8th May 2020.

If you have any questions about the fund, please get in touch with Laura White at laura.white@sustrans.org.uk.
