Help to map awareness and use of participation requests among community organisations

News story posted: 08/06/2017

Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) would like to hear community organisations’ experience of participation requests so far.

Participation requests are a new way for community organisations to have their voices heard in the planning and delivery of services. The right to make a participation request to a public body was introduced as part of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act, and came into effect on the 1st April 2017.

SCDC are interested in mapping the awareness and use of participation requests among community organisations and are keen to hear from those who have used participation requests, groups interested in using them, and others who have only just heard of them.

There are two ways to share your thoughts:

  1. Get in touch directly - contact Colette McLure, colette.mc333@gmail.com
  2. Answer a quick 5 minute survey that will help to build a picture of how participation requests are being used across Scotland and provide information on what else might be needed to ensure that the legislation works as intended.
