Get involved in Big Lunch 2018

News story posted: 13/03/2018

Communities are invited to get involved in Big Lunch 2018.

The Big Lunch, funded by the National Lottery, is the UK's annual celebration for neighbours. It started back in 2009, and takes place each year in June. It's a day where neighbours and members of communities can stop what they're doing and come together for the simple act of sharing a meal. Events can be big or small, inside or outside, casual or filled with all sorts of games, activities and excitement.

The Big Lunch takes place annually on the first Sunday in June. The date for The Big Lunch 2018 is Sunday 3 June. The official date may not be practical for every community so communities are welcome to run a Big Lunch at any time.

Communities can also hold a Lunar Lunch to suit neighbours who would prefer to meet in the evening. More information about Lunar Lunches can be found here: https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/hold-lunar-lunch

A Big Lunch can be anything from a small gathering in a garden, park or driveway, to a larger party with trestle tables down the middle of a street.

A pack is available to download from the Eden Project Communities website, which will help communities plan their Big Lunch: https://www.edenprojectcommunities.com/register-for-your-pack
