be part of the proposed changes to pre-application consuiltation requirements in planningSCOTTISH Government have published a consultation paper on proposed changes to Pre-Application Consultation Requirements in Planning and community councils are encouraged to take part and air their views.

The changes are not related to COVID-19, but follow on from the review of Planning, the report ‘Empowering Planning to Deliver Great Places’, our ‘Places, People and Planning’ consultations, and new powers at section 18 of the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019. Information about the planning reform programme and the 2019 Act is available at the Transforming Planning website.

Take part now in the consultation on proposed changes to pre-application consultation requirements in planning.  The deadline for consultation responses is 6 November 2020.

As part of the consultation Scottish Government would like to hold a number of events with different interest groups, to help inform their eventual responses to the consultation.

The form of the events will depend on the technology and platforms available to the parties involved and the compatibility of same. At the very least these would involve a telephone conference, but could extend to online video.

It’s likely that these events will be held from the middle to the end of September. Depending on the level of interest, it may not be possible to accommodate everyone interested in taking part.

If you would like to be part of one of these events, please e-mail Scottish Government Planning with your contact details and the community council you are representing.  Please also state your preference for telephone conference or online video, and, if online video, confirm which platform you prefer e.g. Microsoft Teams and also whether there are any limitations on your choice of platform. Notes of interest in attending an event are invited by 31 August 2020.
