The events will give an overview of the various types of community rights to buy that communities can use, practical advice on how to become a compliant body and the application processes.

Community Right to Buy is a pre-emptive right to buy land for communities throughout Scotland under Part 2 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. It allows communities throughout Scotland to apply to register an interest in land and the opportunity to buy that land when it comes up for sale. Scottish Government has produced information on Community Right to Buy for communities.

Attendees will be able to sign up to attend a presentation, which will be held in the morning, and one-to-one sessions, which are planned for the afternoon, for those who wish to discuss specific ideas or require more detailed guidance. This is on a first come first served basis.

The current roadshow locations are:

  • 2 April 2019, Galashiels – Scottish Border Campus
  • 21 May 2019, Glasgow – The Pyramid
