Community Paths Your Choice Grants

News story posted: 04/06/2018

Paths For All is offering grants of up to £1500 to provide community groups with the resources they need to upgrade, promote and maintain path networks close to where they live.

The new grant scheme puts communities in control of deciding which projects should receive funding.

Once you submit an eligible application we will give your project its own page on our website where we will publish your project description, photographs and videos.

Eligible applicants will be able to view the other applications which have been submitted and then vote for the project or projects that they feel deserve to be awarded one of our grants. You can only submit one application to this scheme and you can’t vote for your own project. After the voting is finished the projects with the highest number of votes will get funded.

What can the grant be used for?

Funding can be used to create, improve, maintain and promote community paths. You can use it to:

  • buy tools, materials and insurance
  • hire a contractor, plant and machinery
  • install signage and way markers
  • produce new leaflets or promotional materials which use the Path Grading System
  • improving biodiversity along path networks

Who can apply?

The Community Paths “Your Choice” grant scheme is open to any constituted community group who have their own bank account. Community organisations and registered community charities such as community councils, development trusts and community woodland groups working in Scotland can also apply for our funding.

To be eligible for funding your project must engage at least one of the following groups:

  • young people (up to 26 years old)
  • people on low incomes
  • people with poor physical or mental health, or people who are experiencing exclusion (such as a disability or through their ethnicity)
  • communities in or close to our towns or cities, particularly those in the 20% most deprived areas (see Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation)

The deadline for applications 25 June 2018.
