Community Council Research - Online Survey

News story posted: 16/05/2018

As part of Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) and What Works Scotland research to explore ‘How can community councils make a difference in the areas they represent’ they have created a survey to follow on from the regional workshops that discussed this issue.

This survey is intended for all current or retired community councillors in Scotland and is designed to confirm and explore the comments/opportunities expressed by participants at the Edinburgh, Glasgow, Elgin, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen regional workshops held between November 2017 and January 2018.

You can read more about SCDC and What Works Scotland’s collaboration here: http://whatworksscotland.ac.uk/wws-and-scdc-collaborating-on-review-of-community-councils-in-scotland/

Community councillors should respond based on their own experience rather than having to consult with their community council before completing the survey.  The survey contains 30 questions and should take around 15 mins to complete.  It is divided into a number of key themes that came from the workshops, these are:

  • Community councils and their activities
  • Powers
  • Relationships
  • Skills, training and support
  • Democracy and diversity

Please complete the survey by Wednesday 30 May 2018.
